Bed and breakfasts in the region of Abruzzo

Abruzzo The variety of beautiful landscapes that Abruzzo has to offer, from the soaring peaks of the Apennines to its coast line, ensures a visit to this region is a truly unique experience. Take in the greys and greens of the mountains, the gorges, the farmed uplands, the ancient fortified towns and the medieval monasteries which characterize this region. Travel down to the rocky Adriatic coastline and enjoy the sand, sea and numerous popular seaside resorts to be found there. The peak of Italy’s Gran Sasso mountain, standing at 2,912 meters, is the highest mountain of the Apennines and is perhaps the most characteristic feature of Abruzzo’s mountainous countryside. The region is also well-known for its vast national parks; a third of this region is a protected area and the historic National Park of Abruzzo, along with the Majella Park and the Laga and Gran Sasso mountains, make up some of the most important natural landmarks and reservations to be found in Italy. The region has preserved many of its ancient traditions and has a packed events calendar each year celebrating various religious feasts and popular local traditions. Also worthy of mention is its fantastic food which, once again, reflects the variety and the traditions of this unique region.
