Bed and breakfast Arezzo
The province of Arezzo is home to four valleys: the Casentino Valley, the Arno Valley, the Tiberina Valley, and the Chiana Valley. Arezzo boasts many important works of art, and its churches house frescoes by some of the most important Renaissance painters. The Church of St. Francis is famous for its fresco cycle the "Legends of the True Cross" by Piero della Francesca, and the Basilica of St. Dominic houses the masterpiece “Crucifix” by Cimabue. Other important monuments are the Cathedral of St. Donatus, the Vasari Loggia, which runs from the Uffizi Gallery to Ponte Vecchio, and the medieval towers in Piazza Grande. In the Casentino valley, near the town of Chiusi, there are many sites of interest, such as the Sanctuary of Verna, where the friars still go in solemn procession twice daily to the Chapel of the Stigmata as ancient tradition dictates, and the Chapel of the Cross, where St. Francis of Assisi received the stigmata. In Bibbiena you can visit the Towers of Tarlati, the medieval gates of "Fabbri del Castello" and the Renaissance church "Santa Maria del Sasso". In the Arno valley popular sites are the Basilica of Our Lady of Graces and the house where Masaccio was born, now a contemporary art gallery. The town of Sansepolcro was the birthplace of Piero della Francesca, whereas the town of Caprese Michelangelo took its name from Michelangelo Buonarroti, who was born there. Cortona is also worth a visit to see the beautiful Basilica of St. Marguerite, the Franciscan Convent at Le Celle, its medieval town square, and its museum, which houses works by such prestigious artists as Luca Signorelli and Beato Angelico.
