Brescia The province of Brescia is in North-East Lombardy and borders with the regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto. It has around 1.1 million inhabitants and 206 municipalities, the largest of which are: Brescia, Desenzano sul Garda, Lumezzane, Montichiari, Palazzolo sull’Oglio and Chiari. Brescia is home to many valleys including the Camonica Valley, the Trompia Valley and the Sabbia Valley and much of this territory is taken up by Lake Garda, Franciacorta and the narrow plain situated between the Oglio and Chiese rivers. This province is very popular with tourists for its ski resorts, historic towns and monuments. Sites of interest include the Cathedral, the Broletto Palace, the Monastery of the Holy Savior or St. Julia, the Risorgimento Museum, the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery in Brescia, the Roman villa of Decentius in Desenzano sul Garda, the Castle and church of San Siro in Castel Mella.
