Bed and breakfast Campobasso

The province of Campobasso is in the northern most region of Molise and is on the Adriatic coast. Its coastline has long, wide sandy beaches and several towns including Montenero di Bisaccia and Termoli, which has a ancient historic center sat upon a large ridge that dominates the beach and Campomarino. The town of Campobasso is found inland, high up in the hills in the Biferno valley and has a charming historic center and an ancient castle. Mountain lovers should visit the ski resort of Campitello Matese on the slopes of the Miletto mountain in the Apennines. This region is also well known for its wonderful food. This region produces excellent olive oil which was given the coveted status of DOP olive oil in 2003. Many of its cities are also included in Italy’s “Cities of Olive Oil”, a classification run by an organisation based in Larino which produces and promotes the olive oil from this region. Other typical products from this region includes Molise bread, Cavatelli, a type of fresh pasta, salamis like Soppressata, Capocollo and Ventricina (the salami produced in Montenero di Bisaccia is particularly famous). Typical sweets from the region include Cancelle, a type of waffle, Cippillati, oven baked ravioli stuffed with amarena cherries, and Pigna, similar to doughnuts but more crispy.
