Bed and breakfast Catania
The province of Catania has a beautiful and extremely varied landscape. A trip to this province must include a visit to the Oasis of the Nebrodi Mountains and the towns of Bronte, Maniace, Randazzo, and Maletto that sit at the bottom of the valley. The Oasis of Simeto has narrow canyons carved out of the rock face by the river in an ancient laver bed. Motta Sant’Anastasia is a charming medieval town, whilst Paternò is famous for its citrus fruits. Catania is probably most famous for its Mount Etna and the surrounding park and woods with black laver rocks and numerous craters billowing smoke. The towns of Belpasso, Pendara and Nicolosi, called the “door to Mount Etna”, are also visited for their Baroque architecture. The black beaches of the Ciclopi and the Limoni Riviera are very well known, as are the towns of Acitrezza and Acicastello, also known as the Cyclops bay, because of their great faraglioni rocks which legend tells were thrown down into the sea by a fleeing Cyclops. Typical dishes from this province include pasta a la “Norma”, pasta with squid ink and “mascolini”, a type of small fish similar to anchovies. Inland typical dishes are “arancini”, fried rice balls, and “schiacciata”, a pizza with anchovies, tomatoes and onions. Typical desserts are "cannoli", the torrone from Sant’Agata and marzipan.
