Imperia The province of Imperia has 67 municipalities and 215,000 inhabitants. It borders with France in the West, with the province of Cuneo in the North ,with the province of Savona in the East and has a coast on the Ligurian Sea to the South. The largest towns and cities are Imperia, Sanremo, Ventimiglia, Taggia, and Bordighera. Tourists flock to this province each year because with its beaches, mountains and sport clubs there is just so much to do and see. Go hiking in the mountains or take a stroll on the beach, have a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants serving traditional food. The city of Sanremo is the home of Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival. Being an historic city there are plenty of interesting places to visit in its charming historical center called La Pigna, for example the church of San Siro or the Devachan Castle. Ventimiglia is a popular coastal town but also has some wonderful monuments like its cathedral and the Appio Castle and also has traditional local festivals such as the ‘Battle of Flowers’ and ‘Medieval August’. Imperia also has museums, ancient churches and golden sandy beaches.
