Bed and breakfast L'Aquila

L'Aquila The province of L’Aquila has a population of over 300,000 just over a quarter of whom live in the city of L’Aquila. The province is made up of 108 municipalities the largest towns and cities being L’Aquila, in the west of Abruzzo, Avezzano, Sulmona, Celano, Pratola Peligna, Tagliacozzo and Trasacco. The local economy is largely dependent on agriculture (the Avezzano potato is grown locally and is exported all over the world) and on industry (the city of Sulmona is Italy’s largest producer of decorative sweets given as gifts at special occasions). Tourism is also important to the local economy. The Majella National Park has two very popular ski resorts, Roccaraso and Rivisondoli and the Gran Sasso National Park and Lake Scanno also draw a great deal of tourists to the area. There are also many historic monuments and buildings in the province like the former Convent of the Maddalena in Castel di Sangro, the city which also houses the Civic Aufidena Museum, the International Fly Fishing Museum and the National Museum of Abruzzo in L’Aquila.
