Bed and breakfast Lecco
The province of Lecco was created in 1992 when it was separated from the province of Bergamo. Lecco is made of 90 municipalities and now has just 327,000 inhabitants and has an area of 816 square kilometres. The largest municipalities are Lecco, Merate, Calolziocorte, Casatenovo, Valmadrera, Mandello del Lario, Galbiate, and Oggiono. Lecco has an impressive main square, Piazza XX Settembre, with a lovely fountain in its center. Other monuments to visit are: Palazzo Prinetti in Merate, the Church of Saint George and the smaller churches of St. Marguerite and St. Giustina. There are also several beautiful villas in the area, the Villa Casati-Facchi, the Villa Casati-Greppi, the Villa D’Adda-Mariani, the Villa Lurani-Cernuschi and the Villa Cascina Rancate located in the countryside of Casatenovo. The town of Mandello del Lario is also home to the Ferrera grotto and the Church of Saint George. Lecco is a perfect destination for those who enjoy nature walks as there are several parks and nature reserves like Orrido of Bellano, Brenno Park in Costa Masnada, the Erna Plains in Lecco, which have wonderful panoramas of the whole city, the Lake Sartirana Reserve in Merate, the San Genesio Park in Airuno, The Mining Park of the Resinelli Plains in Ballabio and the Gaspare de Ponti Botanical Gardens in Calolziocorte.
