Lodi The province of Lodi has 61 municipalities and around 200,000 inhabitants. It was made an independent province in 1992 when it was separated from the province of Milan. The largest towns and cities are: Lodi, Codogno, Casalpusterlengo, Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Lodi Vecchio, and Tavazzano con Villavesco. The local economy is centered upon industry. The food and green technology sectors are big industries here and local crafts are also in high demand. This province also has a thriving hotel industry as many businessmen travel to the area for work, and of course many tourists come to see the fine monuments of the area. There are many historic buildings to see in the city of Lodi, the Cathedral, the Visconti Castle, the Broletto Palace, the Mozzanica Palace and the government building. Many of the towns around Lodi are very historic and have held on to many of their ancient traditions. Despite being an industrialized center this province is still very green with pedestrianized zones, cycle lanes and lots of green open spaces.
