Bed and breakfast Olbia-Tempio
The new province of Olbia-Tempio was formed in 2005 and is situated between the provinces of Nuoro (to the South) and Sassari (to the West); the eastern part of the province is on the Tyrrhenian sea, whilst the northern part is on the sea of Sardinia (where only a small stretch of sea divides it from Corsica). The historical region of Gallura, the North-eastern coastline of Sardinia (including the famous Emerald Coastline) and the islands of Maddalena are all part of this province. Historically the province was born in the Middle Ages as it was part of the Giudicato della Gallura, one of the four independent Sardinia states. After the Spanish domination and years of local feuds and fighting the province became part of the Kingdom of Piedmont along with the whole island of Sardinia. The most beautiful coast is undoubtedly the Emerald Coast and its most famous towns are Porto Cervo, Liscia di Vacca, Poltu Cuatu, Cala di Volpe, and Capriccioli. Another beautiful place to visit is Santa Teresa di Gallura which is in the far North of the island (just eleven kilometers from Corsica). Here you can visit its magnificent beaches, historic monuments and Roman town center. The inland areas of the Gallura region are also well worth a visit to see: the Pausania Temple, the Maiori and Polcu Nuraghe, the lush slopes of Mount Limbara and the Anthropologic Museum of Aggius.
