Bed and breakfast Pistoia
The province of Pistoia is located in northern Tuscany between the Apennines and the river Ombrone. The city has a lot of beautiful architecture, examples of which are to be found in the main square, the Cathedral, the Bell Tower, and the Baptistery, as well as in the Medici Fort of Santa Barbara, and the remains of the ancient city walls dating back to the fourteenth century which can still be seen today. The city of Collodi is in this province, which was the birth place of Carlo Lorenzini, the author of Pinocchio. There is also a theme park dedicated to the famous puppet in the town. Nearby you can visit Villa Garzoni, a stunning Baroque villa. The natural hot springs of Montecatini and Monsummano have long been renowned for their curative properties. During winter many tourists come to the area to ski in Abetone, one of the best equipped ski resorts in the Apennines. The local cuisine is very simple and traditional. Typical dishes include “fettunta”, pork cooked in oil, spleen on toasted bread, soups a la pistoiese and maccheroni pasta with duck. A typical dessert is “brigidini” from Lamporecchio, wafer thin sweet biscuits, and an excellent wine from the region is Chianti Montalbano.
